What personal use actually means

1. What you own and what we own

When you buy a design, you are buying permission to use it, not the artwork itself. Copyright stays with DEUSPIXEL at all times.

That sounds restrictive written down, but in practice it is the same as buying a book. The book is yours. You can read it as often as you like, lend it, and keep it forever. What you cannot do is print copies and sell them.

Your download link does not expire. Print today, print again in five years, print a small one for the desk and a large one for the hall. None of that costs anything more.

2. What the licence lets you do

All of this is included. You do not need to ask, and you do not need to credit us.

• Print it as many times as you like, for your own home. There is no limit on copies.
• Print at any size included in your purchase, from a small desk print to a large poster.
• Use a commercial printer. A print shop, photo lab or online printing service printing on your behalf is completely fine.
• Hang it anywhere in your own home, including a home office you work from yourself.
• Print a copy as a gift for a friend or family member.
• Reprint it years later, at no extra cost, because the files are yours to keep.
• Crop or resize it to fit your frame. Adjusting a print so it fits properly is normal use.
• Photograph your own wall and post it on social media, including tagging us, which we always appreciate.

3. What the licence does not cover

These are the limits. Every one of them exists for the same reason: the design is how this business survives.

• Reselling or sharing the files. Not on a marketplace, not in a bundle, not sent to a friend, not uploaded anywhere others can reach.
• Selling printed copies. Not in a shop, at a market, on Etsy, at a craft fair, or anywhere else.
• Business or public spaces. A cafe, salon, clinic, office, shop, hotel, gym, restaurant, waiting room or short term rental all need a commercial licence.
• Products and merchandise. No mugs, cards, t shirts, phone cases, stationery or anything else carrying the design.
• Advertising and packaging. Not in a brochure, a website banner, a product box or a social media advert for a business.
• Sharing your download link. That link is yours alone. Posting it publicly gives away the files.
• Claiming it as your own work. Please do not.
• AI and machine learning training. See section 6.
• Altering it and passing the result off as original. A recoloured version of our design is still our design.

4. Common questions, answered directly

These are the situations people genuinely ask about. Amber means ask us first, and asking really is free.

5. Gifts, families and shared homes

5.1 Printing a gift

Printing a copy and giving the physical print to somebody is fine. That is a normal, generous thing to do with art you have bought.

5.2 Giving the file itself

That is not covered. The difference matters: a printed gift is one object, a file is unlimited copies. If you want somebody else to have the design, the honest route is for them to buy it, and at these prices that is rarely a hardship.

5.3 People you live with

The licence covers your household. Your partner, children or housemates printing something for a wall in the same home are covered by your purchase.

5.4 Two homes

If you own a holiday home or split your time between two places, printing for both is fine, as long as neither is being rented out commercially.

6. Why AI training is excluded

You may not use these files to train, fine tune or develop any artificial intelligence or machine learning system.

This is not a fashionable clause added because everyone else has one. Every design in this shop was made by hand by one person. Feeding that work into a model so the model can generate imitations of it takes the value of the work without paying for it, and it does so at a scale no individual can compete with.

7. Commercial licences

If you want to use a design in a way this licence does not cover, that is usually arrangeable. Commercial licences exist and getting one is not a difficult process.

7.1 When you need one

• Displaying the design in any business or public space
• Selling anything with the design on it
• Using it in marketing, advertising or packaging
• Using it in a client project
• Using it in a rental property you let out

7.2 How to get one

Send a message through the contact form and tell us three things: which design, where it will appear, and roughly how many copies or how large the audience is. That is enough for us to give you a straight answer and a price.

8. Free designs

Designs from our free collection carry exactly the same licence as paid ones. Free means free of charge, not free of terms.

You may print a free design for your home as often as you like. You may not sell it, redistribute it, or use it commercially, for the same reasons that apply to everything else in the shop.

9. If the licence is broken

If a design is used outside this licence, the licence ends immediately and we may take steps to protect our copyright. No refund is due in that situation.

9.1 What that actually looks like in practice

We are one person, not a legal department, and our first response to almost anything is a polite message asking you to stop. Most breaches we would ever encounter are honest mistakes by people who did not read this page, and a quiet word solves them.

Deliberate, commercial infringement is a different matter, and we will pursue it properly.

10. Ask us, it is genuinely fine

This page cannot anticipate every situation. If what you want to do is not clearly covered, send a message and describe it in a sentence or two.

You will get a real answer from the person who drew the design, usually within a working day. We would far rather say yes to something unusual than find out later that somebody assumed the answer was no and did not buy.
