A one person studio, not a stock library
DEUSPIXEL is run by Nenad Dukić from Čakovec in northern Croatia. Every design in the shop was drawn by him, test printed on real paper, and only then put on sale. No resold stock packs, no scraped images, no warehouse full of posters waiting to be shipped.

Hi, I am Nenad
Before any of this was a shop, it was my father. Slavko Dukić painted. He was a man genuinely in love with pictures, and he made them himself. His large figure of Saint Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, still hangs in the fire station in Čakovec, painted for that wall and for the people who walk past it every day. I grew up watching somebody make art with a specific wall in mind, and that idea never left me.
In 1998 he sat me down and showed me what you could do with a computer and a bit of patience. I was hooked immediately, not by the software, but by the idea that you could make something that looks good and says something at the same time. That was exactly what he had been doing at an easel for years, just with different tools.
I have spent the years since then working as a graphic designer. DEUSPIXEL is the part of that work I care about most: art that ends up on somebody’s actual wall, in their actual home, rather than in a folder on a client’s server. Every print in this shop traces back to a man who believed a wall should have something on it worth looking at.
Outside of work I practise yoga and I travel whenever I can. Yoga taught me to slow down and pay attention to one thing at a time, which is exactly what designing a good poster needs. Travelling does the opposite, it fills my head with colour and shapes I would never have thought of at home. Both end up in the work.

Same work, different tools. A laptop instead of an easel, files instead of canvas. The designs still get made one at a time, by hand, and they still end up on somebody’s wall.
He painted so that one picture could hang in one house. I design so the same picture can hang in a thousand of them.
Why DEUSPIXEL
People ask, so here is the honest answer. It is two words, and the join between them is the whole idea.
My father painted saints. His large figure of Saint Florian still hangs in the fire station in Cakovec, made with brushes and oil paint on a board taller than he was. He spent weeks on a single face.
I work in pixels. A pixel is the smallest thing a screen can show, and on its own it is nothing at all. Thousands of them together become something a person hangs on a wall and looks at every morning. That jump, from something almost too small to see into something that changes how a room feels, is the part of this work I have never got tired of.
Putting those two words side by side was my way of saying that the tools changed but the intention did not. He believed a picture was worth doing properly, whether anyone was watching or not. That belief is older than either of us, and it is the closest thing this shop has to a rule.
I am not claiming anything grand for a printable poster. DEUSPIXEL is simply a reminder, written into the name, that even the smallest piece of work deserves care, and that something made with attention carries a little of whoever made it.

Nothing travels except the file
A printed poster sold from Croatia to a customer in Australia has to be boxed, flown, trucked and delivered. It can arrive creased, it can arrive late, and it can get stuck at customs with a bill attached.
Selling the file instead removes all of that. You download it, print it near where you live, and the only thing that crossed a border was an email. It is cheaper for you, it is faster, and there is a lot less waste involved in getting the same picture onto the same wall.
